Win The Day # 12: Happy First Heavenly Birthday, Dad!

Tomorrow will be my Dad’s 71st birthday — his first one in heaven.

It’s hard to describe what it feels like to mark this day without his laugh, his voice, or his bear hugs. But while his absence is deeply felt here on Earth, I know heaven is celebrating in a way we can’t even begin to imagine. Because today, my Dad is with Jesus — fully healed, fully whole, and more alive than he ever was here.

There’s comfort in that truth. The kind only God can give.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”
Psalm 116:15

This verse has carried me through some of the toughest moments. It reminds me that my Dad’s life — and his passing — were not unnoticed by God. His story mattered. His faith mattered. And now he is home, in the presence of the One he loved so deeply.

I miss the small things today: his jokes, his prayers, the way he always made time for everyone. But I also celebrate the legacy he left behind — a legacy rooted in Christ. My Dad didn’t just talk about faith; he lived it. Quietly, consistently, and powerfully.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Matthew 25:23

That’s what I imagine my Dad heard when he walked into glory.

So today, even through the tears, I choose joy. I choose to honor him not just with grief, but with gratitude — for the years we had, the lessons he taught, and the hope we now cling to: that in Christ, goodbye isn’t forever.

I love you, Dad. Happy birthday in heaven. We’ll celebrate together again one day.

Until then, I’ll carry your faith — and our memories — close to my heart.
